House Fire in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Demanded Human Life

Local News

The number of house fires increased during the festive period: the majority of cases can be attributed to open flames, improper use of heating equipment, smoking, or electrical short circuits.

There was a fire on Viola Street in Mátészalka on Tuesday morning, a mattress in one of the rooms of a one-hundred-square-meter family house caught fire. At the time the fire broke out, there was a man in the building whose life could not be saved. When the professional firefighters from Mátészalka arrived, the fire had already been put out, part of the building saturated with smoke was ventilated. The tragedy might have been caused by smoking, but the conditions and cause of the fire are still being investigated.

During the holidays, pay special attention to your elderly or lonely relatives and those living in our surroundings, and make their home safer with a smoke detector. The device signals when a fire breaks out, so there is a chance to put out the flames, thus saving human life – said the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Disaster Management Directorate.
