Red weather alert has been issued in Nyíregyháza because of the extreme cold.
On Friday, the red code signal came into effect throughout the country. Attila Fülöp, EMMI’s Secretary of State for Social Affairs, has decided that the measure will remain in force until next Wednesday.
It means that until next Wednesday, under the red code, special attention must be paid to the homeless, who must also be let in by such residential social institutions which are normally not open to them.
According to Dr. Ferenc Kovács, the mayor of the city, in Nyíregyháza the street social work is performed by the Periphery Association, and the institutional services are provided by the Protection Charity Service.
If you find a person in danger anywhere on the city’s roads, the Peripheral Association should be called. The dispatcher service and the crisis car can be reached by calling 42 / 504-618 24 hours a day.
